About the event
How to find balance in times of fast changes in many spheres of life? How to best adjust and find our place, even in the closest surroundings? How to repair the negative trends caused by disrupted social links and withering democracy, which strongly and adversely effect the quality of our life?
With the BSR Cultural Pearls project, we offer ways to address these challenges. We believe in the power of culture and participation in bringing people together to influence our reality and change it for the better. Therefore, we hope you will join us – PA Culture of EUSBSR, Baltic Sea Cultural Centre in Gdańsk and all the speakers and practitioners – online or in Warsaw at the event “Culture Makes Cities Stronger. Baltic Sea Cultural Pearls – Resilient Cities and Regions” on April 24th, 2024.
We extend this invitation mainly to representatives of towns, cities, and municipalities of the Baltic Sea Region, especially those less central: both from administrations, the culture and creative sector as well as animators working for the sake of stronger communities and better cities.
During the meeting, we will introduce you to this BSR Interreg project lead by the Council of the Baltic Sea States, showing you also how important culture, strong and resilient communities are for the prosperous Baltic Sea Region.
We would also like to encourage you to participate in the project and apply for the title of the Baltic Sea Region Cultural Pearl 2025 with the new call opening in April. The road to the title will help you learn more about the role of culture and participation in making your cities stronger and better prepared for challenges of today and tomorrow. The title winners will gain additional international visibility, valuable contacts with other Baltic cities and capacity building programmes. You can also get financial support for the proposed cultural activities of up to EUR 5,000.
Please also take note of the four cities that have been awarded the title of Baltic Cultural Pearls 2024: Svendborg (Denmark), Kiel (Germany), Jakobstad (Finland) and Rūjiena (Latvia).
