InnoCulture Conference Keynote Speakers
Policy Area Culture would like to introduce to you the keynote speakers of the 'InnoCulture Conference' in Gdańsk on November 19 and 20, 2024!

The keynote speakers and workshop leaders are looking forward to sharing knowledge and exchanging thoughts with you. There will be three presentations and four workshops exploring the different levels of intersections between innovation and Culture. The workshops are each held in two sessions, one on each conference day.
Kick-Off for the EUSBSR Polish Presidency
On 10 September, we launched Poland’s Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region with an inspiring event in Warsaw.
Opened by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Marek Prawda, the event centered on key themes of resilience and security in the Baltic Sea Region, alongside strengthening support for Ukraine.
Thank you to all experts who contributed to these vital discussions and helped shape the way forward. Stay tuned for updates as Poland leads this effort through 2024-2025!

On 30 and 31 October, the EUSBSR Annual Forum is taking place in Visby, Sweden with an Engagement Day as side event on 29 October.
PA Culture will be involved in two workshops during the Forum: one as part of the Engagement Day on 29th October, and another one, entitled Culture X Integration and co-organized with PA Education, on 30th October. It will also be possible to meet us at the Networking Village.

Culture makes cities stronger - Event recap
On 24 April, PA Culture together with the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre hosted the ‘Culture makes cities stronger’ event in Warsaw, Poland and online.
The aim of the event was to introduce the BSR Cultural Pearl project and the overarching topic of 'Social Resilience through Culture'.

Policy Area Culture Meeting at the BSCC
On 7 and 8 March, the PA Culture Coordinators met in the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre (BSCC) in Gdańsk, Poland to discuss the work plan for the next months.
Day 1 was devoted mostly to preparing the next Steering Group meeting and catch up with EUSBSR PA Tourism coordinator Magda Leszczyna-Rzucidło. Day 2 was all about plotting something special with the wonderful team at BSCC.
And keep an eye out for two very interesting events!
Annual EUSBSR coordinator meeting
On 7 and 8 February, the annual 𝗘𝗨𝗦𝗕𝗦𝗥 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 took place in Hamburg.
It focused on the topic of climate (change) and ensuring the Strategy's relevance through cooperation, communication and evaluation.
It was a great opportunity to reconnect, exchange ideas, and make new plans to ensure the long-term impact of our work!
CCI Network Meeting by the CCI Contact Desk
It was a great pleasure for us to attend the CCI Network Meeting in Tallinn, Estonia hosted by the CCI Contact Desk on 16 and 17 January.
The event was an excellent opportunity for networking, gaining new contacts, exchanging ideas, and discussing the latest trends in the Cultural and Creative Industries.
It certainly gave us a lot of inspiration for our work within the Baltic Sea Region!

Culture Moves Europe
Call for experts
Culture Moves Europe is looking for evaluators with experience in the artistic and cultural sector as well as international cultural exchange and/or mobility projects. Selected experts will evaluate project proposals from the call for individual mobility. Deadline: 31 August
Latvia took over the EUSBSR Presidency
Latvia will lead the work on overall strategic guidance, facilitation of decision-making and coordination of the National Coordinators Group with the support from the European Commission & the Baltic Sea Strategy Point. Common efforts to contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine will be continued.
Workshop @ EUSBSR Annual Forum in Riga
PA Culture, PA Tourism, and Council of the Baltic Sea States are organising the workshop “Youth and Culture driving resilient communities in the BSR” on 4 October during the 14th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. Registration closes on 10 September.
SI Baltic Sea Neighbour-hood Programme
The Swedish Institute has launched a Seed Funding Call to support cooperations contributing to an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable development in the EU countries around the Baltic Sea and in the EU's eastern neighbourhood. Deadline: 20 September
24 core projects selected for Interreg BSR funding!
On 19-20 June, members of the Monitoring Committee selected 24 new core projects out of 88 applications that will receive funding to have their share in shaping the Baltic Sea Region. Two of them have a link to EUSBSR Policy Area Culture.

14th EUSBSR Annual Forum
The EUSBSR Annual Forum "Safe and Sustainable Baltic Sea Region for Future Generations" will take place in Riga on 4-5 October. Special attention with the aim to encourage debate will be paid to climate affairs, green energy and the importance of youth engagement in decision making.
#NDPCbootcamp for Cross-Innovation
The goal of the #NDPCbootcamp is to support cross-field networking between practitioners from the Cultural and Creative Sectors and practioners working in other fields. The main topics will be mutual learning, exchange, inspiration and collaboration.

CBSS Project Support Facility 2023
The Council of the Baltic Sea States Project Support Facility calls for projects that focus on the CBSS long-term priority ‘Safe and Secure Region’, more specifically on managing increasing risks for states and societies as well as building more resilient communities. Deadline: 31 March
Europe, let's cooperate 2023
The 9th edition of "Europe, let's cooperate! interregional cooperation forum" will take place on 15 March in Stockholm under the patronage of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event marks the launch of Interreg's second call for project proposals.

The PA Culture Steering Group Meeting and the Information Day on Funding took place in Warsaw and online on 14 and 15 December. Experts presented the PA Culture projects and important funding programmes such as Culture Moves Europe and Interreg Baltic Sea Region.

A new application round has begun for many funding programs within the Baltic Sea Region. PA Culture has invited experts who will present the relevant funding schemes for cultural projects. Register and stay tuned for the full program, which will be uploaded here soon.
Creative Europe Call Cooperation Projects
Creative Europe has published a new call with a budget of €60 million that aims to support projects to carry out a broad spectrum of activities and initiatives involving artists and stakeholders active in different cultural and creative sectors. Deadline for submitting applications is 23 February 2023.
Culture Moves Europe First Call
Culture Moves Europe has published its first call for individual mobility targets artists and cultural professionals working in music, literary translation, architecture, cultural heritage, design and fashion design, visual arts and performing arts. Deadlne for applications is 31 May 2023.
Policy Area Culture Meeting in Berlin
PA Culture Coordinators and their Communication & Support Team met to discuss the Priority Area's next activities in the upcoming years. A particular focus was on the Baltic Sea Youth Declaration's recommendations towards PAC, which we would like to include in our work.
Open Call Art Hub Copenhagen
Art Hub Copenhagen is looking for artists for a residency that aims to create and expand the artists' networks both nationally and internationally. The programme will feature meetings with selected curators/mentors and visits to selected art institutions in Denmark. Deadline: 31 October.
Interreg Baltic Sea Region Second Call
Interreg Baltic Sea Region has launched the second Call for applications for small and core projects! The Call is open for everyone who has a smart project idea on how to bring in innovative, water-smart and climate-neutral solutions for the benefit of people around the Baltic Sea.
PAC Roundtable on cultural relations - Review
The roundtable “Cultural relations in turbulent times” took place in Lappeenranta and online with around 25 participants from 10 different countries. The speakers Nicholas Cull and Solomiya Borshosh spoke about reputational security and the work of the Ukrainian Institute.
PA Culture Roundtable on cultural relations
The PA Culture Roundtable will focus on cultural relations in the Baltic Sea Region with the aim to explore the future of cultural cooperation. The event will take place at the 13th EUSBSR Annual Forum on 27 September as a hybrid format in Lappeenranta, Finland and online.
Creative Ports > CCI Contact Desk
One of the outcomes of the Flagship Project Creative Ports is the CCI Contact Desk, which was established at the Goethe-Institut Estonia in cooperation with ARS BALTICA. The Contact Desk will serve as a focal point for CCI internationalisation in the Baltic Sea region.
INTERREG BSR: First projects selected
The Monitoring Committee selected the first 17 projects out of 42 received applications in all three Programme priorities in the new INTERREG BALTIC SEA REGION - PROGRAM 2021-2027. The requested funds amount to EUR 6.4 million from the European Regional Development Fund.
PA Culture: Simplified Flagship Criteria
Within the new program the Flagship label still will be used as a valuable communication tool for underlying the significance of particular projects. PA Culture welcomes relevant Baltic Sea Region projects to apply for a Flagship status. Find the simplified flagship criteria here ⬇️

Baltic Sea Parliamentary
Youth Forum 2022
In collaboration with the Swedish delegation to the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference, the Council of Baltic Sea States is co-organising the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Youth Forum. Applicants between 16–30 years old from the Baltic Sea Region can apply until 24 April for a participation.

Annual Forum 2022
The 2022 Annual Forum of the EUSBSR will take place on 28-29 September in Lappeenranta, Finland. The event is organized by the City of Lappeenranta, the Council of the Baltic Sea States secretariat and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. More information will be published soon.
Creative Waves International Webinar
Creatives Waves aims to support women to be healthier and more resilient as well as to create a space for creative women to co-operate, exchange, gain more strength and confidence. The project partners are organising an international webinar on 28 February at 2 PM with renowned expert speakers.
The Festival of the New European Bauhaus
The first edition of the New European Bauhaus Festival will take place in Brussels from 9-12 June. Everybody who wants to present a project or initiative at the Fair, showcase cultural performances, or organise a side event in their own region is welcome to apply until 7 March.
New Call Interreg Baltic Sea Region
Interreg Baltic Sea Region is opening a new Call on 8 February. Applications for Core Projects can be submitted until 26 April, for Small Projects until 30 March. Interested parties can request an individual online consultation
and receive tailored feedback to their project idea.
#CulturalDealEU Policy Conversation
The policy conversation on #CulturalDealEU is taking place on 1 February. It aims to inspire and engage the wider European community of artists, cultural workers, creative industries and heritage stakeholders in building a future that is more resilient and sustainable.
CulturEU Interactive Funding Guide
The European Commission launched an interactive guide mapping all funding opportunities available at European Union level for the cultural and creative sectors: CulturEU. The guide aims to help identify the most suitable sources of EU support including a total of 75 funding opportunities.

Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) and EU National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) are looking for collaboration models that connect the CCI field with the digital, economic, environmental, social, education and other sectors, building up a cross-sectoral cooperation ecosystem.

ARS BALTICA is organising the session “𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀” on 28 September. 12th Annual Forum
This year's EUSBSR Annual Forum takes place on 27 September - 1 October fully virtual with the topic GREEN RECOVERY. The Forum aims at fostering green transition in the Baltic Sea Region through a close partnership and more active involvement of the stakeholders, youth and local communities.
Baltic Stories - Leading the Sea Change
The new online magazine "Baltic Stories" presents multiple project examples on climate protection such as CASCADE and gives faces to the people from all around the Baltic Sea who create solutions to combat, adapt and mitigate climate change. The magazine is produced by Let's Communicate!
12th PAC Workshop - Common Position

Cities and Regions
The Baltic Sea Cultural Cities and Regions is a project aimed at connecting cities and regions, people, cultural organisations and professionals by increasing the visibility of the cultural diversity within the Baltic Sea Region. Read more about the newest concept note of the project.
11th PA Culture
Workshop
The 11th PA Culture Workshop was devoted to the preservation of cultural heritage in the Baltic Sea Region, with a particular emphasis put on wooden architecture and sustainable cultural tourism. Read more about the common position and recommendations, that were created after the workshop.
Swedish Institute Seed Funding
The Swedish Institute provides funding for joint projects in which Swedish organisations meet transnational challenges together with organisations from the Baltic Sea region countries including Russia and the countries of the Eastern Partnership. The call closes on 11 February 2021.
A LIBRARY FOR THE BALTIC SEA
The virtual Baltic Sea library is a continuously growing anthology of representative literary texts broadly connected with the Baltic Sea that seeks to provide multiple insights into the BSR. The authors of the texts either come from the region or have written texts that deal with aspects of life on the Baltic Sea.
CBSS Project Support Facility
The Council of the Baltic Sea States Project Support Facility call for 2021 is out! The call is dedicated to Innovative solutions for strengthening resilience by promoting inclusiveness and protection of most vulnerable societal groups in the Baltic Sea Region during a period of crisis.
Baltic Stories
EUSBSR
Baltic Stories is a digital magazine, devoted to promoting the cooperation around the Baltic Sea, joint initiatives and flagship projects of the EUSBSR. The stories have been developed during the last year by 'Pomorskie in the EU' Association. The full version can be downloaded online.
Creative Entrepreneurship and Museums
The 7th International NDPC Cultural Forum and b.creative join forces for the international event “Reaching New Horizons: Creative Entrepreneurship and Museums” on 10-11 December to approach the peculiar relationships between creative entrepreneurship and the museum community.
Urban Cultural Planning Conference
Urb Cultural Planning's conference “Game of Cities: Culture, Participation, Democracy” will take place online from Gdansk on 19–21 November. The conference addresses how municipalities can empower citizen driven community development. The registration for the conference is still open.
